This year’s maze, in the form of a frog, is cut into a field of heirloom corn which will feed flocks of migrating birds this winter.
Rio Grande Community Farm is a 50 acre, non-profit urban farm located at the Los Poblanos Fields Open Space in the North Valley of Albuquerque, New Mexico. We grow healthy, organic food for the Albuquerque area, offer community gardening opportunities, support local food networks, and maintain wildlife habitat.
Every September and October, the Maize Maze attracts thousands of visitors to Rio Grande Community Farm. The corn grown through the summer becomes 6 feet or taller – and has paths precisely cut by GPS technology to form the Maze. Proceeds from the Maze fund Farm operations, including growing corn for wildlife – and next year’s Maze! - September - October
